Minnesota Energy Resources employees built a playground, hoping it will bring smiles to the women and children seeking safety at the B. Robert Lewis House in Eagan, Minnesota.
Our employees often lend a hand to create parks and playgrounds for our youngest community members. Minnesota Energy Resources employees recently built a new play system at the B. Robert Lewis House in Eagan, Minnesota.
The house is a safe place for women and children experiencing domestic violence. But it had an aging playground. Wisconsin Public Service Foundation, a private foundation supporting Minnesota Energy Resources and other Integrys companies, donated $18,000 for new equipment.
The work began with Northern Pipeline, a contractor with Minnesota Energy Resources, volunteering to tear out the old play equipment. Then it was ready a new 50-foot-long play system. Our employees, along with area Eagle Scouts, spent a Saturday building.
Anika Rychner, Director of the Lewis House, said, "Your contribution in time, talent and compassion made a valuable difference to … the community. To volunteer and give of your time has a special quality of its own. We have been helping families in crisis for over 30 years, and we depend on our caring and special volunteers."
