Minnesota Energy Resources Donates to Charities Across the State of Minnesota

Rosemount, MN – Minnesota Energy Resources serves 165 communities throughout the state of Minnesota, and last year over $120,000 in charitable contributions were given to 180 agencies, associations and worthwhile causes that needed financial assistance.

The groups represented arts and culture, community and neighborhood development, education, human services and health, along with care for the environment.

These contributions are presented by Minnesota Energy Resources on behalf of Wisconsin Public Service Foundation, a private foundation supported by Minnesota Energy Resources and other affiliates of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation. The Foundation is funded by shareholders of the corporation and NOT by utility customers.

Minnesota Energy Resources employees helped fund and build a new playground for Community Action Council’s Home for Battered Women and Children and Mary Ajax, President of Community Action Council, said, “Volunteers like you are priceless. Your contributions in time, talent and compassion make a valuable difference to our agency and community.”

The Cannon Falls Fire Department appreciated the donation of funds for the purchase of a CGI unit and Fire Chief John Miller said, “This unit will enable us to safely detect gases and keep us safe. We appreciate all of the training you have given us in the past and look forward to working with you in the future.”

The Foundation also partially matches employees' and retirees' financial donations to local causes through the “Matching Gifts” program, as well as the “Dollars for Doers” program which rewards qualifying non-profit organizations up to $100 when employees or retirees volunteer at least 20 hours during the year.

“We’re extremely pleased to help out financially or simply lend a hand to efforts that improve the quality of life for everyone, said Tom Meinz, President of the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation. “We expect to have a long future continuing those efforts.”
