Cloninger to Assume Leadership of Michigan Gas Utilities at End of Year

Will also remain president of Minnesota Energy Resources

Rosemount, MN – Chuck Cloninger, 49, president of Minnesota Energy Resources, a regulated natural gas distribution subsidiary of Integrys Energy Group (NYSE: TEG), will also assume the role of president of Michigan Gas Utilities (MGU) later this year, pending the retirement of MGU’s current president.

The appointment was announced by Larry T. Borgard, president and COO of the Chicago-based Integrys Gas Group, which oversees natural-gas operations at MGU and Minnesota Energy Resources.

Gary Erickson, president of Michigan Gas Utilities, also a regulated natural gas subsidiary of Integrys Energy Group, yesterday announced plans to retire at the end of this year, capping a 40-year career of leadership within the utility industry.

"We've known for a while that Gary would retire before the end of 2008," said Borgard. "This gives us time to introduce Chuck to the employees and to other key groups in Michigan."

To help Cloninger manage his span of control and to provide on-site company leadership, two long-time employees will expand their leadership roles at the Michigan and Minnesota utilities:

  • Dave Kult, general manager of Operations and Engineering at Minnesota Energy Resources, will be responsible for the utility's day-to-day operations, based at the company's headquarters in Rosemount.
  • Chuck Hauska, vice president of Operations at MGU, will be responsible for day-to-day operations from the company's headquarters in Monroe.

"I have great confidence in this new leadership team," Borgard told employees. "Gary Erickson and Chuck Cloninger have been strong leaders at MGU and Minnesota Energy Resources since those companies came into the system in 2006. Over the past few years, Dave Kult and Chuck Hauska have been excellent supports for Gary and Chuck. I know they will continue to be so in their new roles." Cloninger, a registered Professional Engineer, has served as president of Minnesota Energy Resources since October 2005. Cloninger began his career with Wisconsin Public Service Corporation in 1981 as an Associate Engineer in Green Bay. He advanced through a number of leadership positions in the Wisconsin Public Service territory, including division engineer in Green Bay and Two Rivers (WI); electric distribution engineering projects engineer; operations engineer; customer service manager; Western Region manager; and assistant vice president - Operations and Engineering.

Erickson, Cloninger, Hauska and Kult will spend the next several months transitioning to their new roles.
