Minnesota Energy Resources Donates to Charities throughout the State of Minnesota
Rosemount, MN - Minnesota Energy Resources, a subsidiary of Integrys Energy Group, (NYSE: TEG), serving 165 communities throughout the state of Minnesota, made donations totaling $63,000 to charitable organizations, associations and worthwhile entities that requested financial assistance.
The recipient groups represented arts and culture, community and neighborhood development, education, safety, human services and health, along with care for the environment. These contributions are presented by Minnesota Energy Resources plus an additional $27,000 was donated on behalf of Wisconsin Public Service Foundation, a private foundation associated with Minnesota Energy Resources and other affiliates of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation. The Foundation is funded by shareholders of the corporation and NOT by utility customers.
Funds were also donated to purchase carbon monoxide detectors for the Fire Departments of Kasson, Frazee, Park Rapids, Detroit Lakes, Nashwauk and Aurora. Detroit Lakes Fire Chief Jeff Swanson said, "This unit will enable us to safely detect gases and keep our firefighters safe. We appreciate all of the training Minnesota Energy Resources has given us in the past and look forward to working with the company in the future."
Among some of the supported projects were the Finlayson Community Center, Youth Safety and Envirothon, Art Festivals, community events, International Falls Hunger Coalition, Coleraine Centennial, Bemidji Symphony and Becker County Kids Camp, as well as considerable support to food shelves across the region.
The Foundation also matches employee and retiree financial donations to local causes through its "Matching Gifts" program as well as the "Dollars for Doers" program which rewards qualifying non-profit organizations up to $100 when employees or retirees volunteer at least 20 hours during the year.
