Emergency Responders respond! Grant monies awarded by Wisconsin Public Service Foundation

Wisconsin Public Service Foundation's 50th Anniversary

Green Bay, WI - The Wisconsin Public Service Foundation has awarded $50,000 to area first responders as part of the Foundation's 50th year anniversary.

Up to a $2,000 grant for needed equipment and training was made available to first responder groups that applied for the Foundation's first annual "Safety-It's Worth the Energy" grant.

2014 recipient organizations by area are:

Green Bay area- Ashwaubenon Public Safety; Bellevue Fire Department; De Pere Fire Rescue; Friends of the New Franken Fire Department; Howard Fire Department; Pulaski Tri-Co Fire Department.

Western area - Waupaca County Sheriff's Department; Town of Maine Fire Department; Town of Antigo Volunteer Fire Department; Merrill Police Department; Marathon County Sheriff''s Department; Bancroft-Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department.

Lakeshore area- Van Dyne Volunteer Fire Department; Valders Ambulance; Town of Calumet Fire Department; Montpelier Emergency Medical Responders; Gibraltar Fire Rescue; Egg Harbor Fire Department; City of Two Rivers Fire Department; Brillion Police Department.

Northern area- Town of Peshtigo Fire Department; Silver Cliff Fire Department; Plum Lake Volunteer Fire Department; Pickerel Fire and Rescue Squad; Hiles Volunteer Fire Department; Emergency Rescue Squad Inc., Marinette.

"We wanted to do something special for our 50th anniversary," said Karmen Lemke, Director-Wisconsin Public Service Foundation. "We had an overwhelming response this first year which re-enforces the need to help these organizations. The grants will help those who put their lives on the line in the most dangerous of emergency conditions. We are fortunate to have such dedicated first responders in the communities we serve and are glad to help any way we can."

Grants can be used to purchase equipment and for professional development.
