WPS Foundation scholarships to help area students pursue college degrees

In partnership with the Wisconsin Technical College System, the Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) Foundation is awarding scholarships to 27 exceptional students from northeastern and north central Wisconsin.

Earlier this year, the WPS Foundation offered the $750 scholarships to high school seniors living in the WPS service area who were enrolling this fall in one-year technical diploma or two-year associate degree programs at one of six designated technical colleges. The 27 scholarship winners were chosen from more than 60 student applications.

Each year, the WPS Foundation provides scholarships to high school and college students working toward associate or four-year degrees. Including all of its scholarships, the WPS Foundation has now given $60,000 to area students to help with educational expenses for the 2017-18 school year.

Since its incorporation in 1964, the WPS Foundation has awarded nearly $5 million in scholarships to students in Wisconsin and a portion of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. A list of this year's scholarship winners can be viewed here.

About Wisconsin Public Service Foundation

The Wisconsin Public Service Foundation is funded by company shareholders, not by the customers of its utility subsidiaries, and is in its 53rd year. Through direct grants, scholarships and an employee Matching Gifts program, the foundation actively supports improvements in the quality of life in the communities served by Wisconsin Public Service. Since its inception, the foundation has provided nearly $32 million in contributions to programs that support work in the areas of arts and culture, community and neighborhood development, education, human services and health, and care for the environment.
