WPS to teach electrical safety at Path to Ground presentations

To help students remain safe and learn more about electricity, Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) line electricians are providing the company's Path to Ground program to schools throughout northeastern and north central Wisconsin during the next month.

For more than 35 years, the program has helped thousands of students develop a respect for electricity and electrical equipment through the use of a high-voltage, path-to-ground display board. Students also receive an up-close look at the safety equipment WPS crews use each day and learn the actions they need to take in an emergency situation involving electricity.

According to data compiled by the Electrical Safety Foundation International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting electrical safety at home and in the workplace, more than 10,000 workplace injuries involving electricity occurred from 2011 to 2015.

Members of the media are welcome to cover a Path to Ground presentation at a participating school. Please contact the WPS media hotline to receive a schedule of upcoming presentations.
