Contractor Cuts Natural Gas Line in Grand Haven, One Home Temporarily Evacuated
Grand Haven, MI – A contractor inadvertently cut through a natural gas line using a cement saw at the intersection of Waverly and Griffin in Grand Haven early this afternoon. Since the area is served from more than one direction, no customers lost natural gas service as a result of the line being cut. Public Safety officials are rerouting traffic away from the intersection.
Because of the escaping natural gas and potential danger, one home in the area was evacuated while the line is disconnected and natural gas in the area dissipates. Michigan Gas Utilities' employees are on the scene and expect to make repairs by 4:00 P.M. EDT.
