Wisconsin Public Service Foundation Seeks Applicants for Innovative Educator Grant
Green Bay, WI – Wisconsin Public Service Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, is currently accepting applications for the Innovative Educator Grant. The Grant, now in its third year, is an opportunity for middle, junior high or high school educators to receive an award up to $1,000 for new projects with an academic focus and goals to improve student achievement in the areas of math, science or technology.
"Each year educators have wowed us with the tremendous learning ideas they've wanted to incorporate into their classrooms, but didn't have the extra dollars available for funding the project," said Karmen Lemke, Community Relations Manager at Wisconsin Public Service. "We look forward to strengthening our partnerships with schools in our service territory and providing unique educational opportunities through the Innovative Educator Grant."
Examples of what may be considered for funding include robotics programs, community gardens, and engineering mentoring programs. Also, grants may be used to purchase certain types of equipment or curriculum materials, and should be part of a well-planned and integrated project or activity. The school must be a natural gas or electric customer of Wisconsin Public Service. Funding for the Innovative Educator Grant is through Wisconsin Public Service Foundation, which is supported by shareholders, not utility ratepayers. To view the complete guidelines, obtain an application, or to see a list of last year's recipients, log onto www.wisconsinpublicservice.com and select In the Community. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2009.
