Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas Launch "Waste Watchers" Campaign
Customers Can Watch Their 'Waste' Line By Following Easy Energy Conservation Tips
CHICAGO, IL - Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas, the two utility companies that deliver safe and reliable natural gas to approximately 1 million customers in Chicago and 54 communities in Lake County, have launched a new advertising and community outreach campaign featuring 'Waste Watcher' tips. These tips are simple ways residents can conserve energy, which will positively impact their energy use this winter. The ad campaign began running last week, September 21, on bus shelters in Chicago and the North Shore area, Metra interior cards, local radio stations, targeted Web sites and coffee sleeves at selected coffee shops throughout the city. The community outreach campaign kicks off on October 5th and will include a variety of initiatives throughout October-Energy Awareness Month. The campaigns will run through mid-November.
"We are committed to educating residents on energy efficiency and providing them with the tools and resources to do so," said Rodrigo A. Sierra, vice president of Public Affairs. "The goal of our campaign is to provide customers with energy-saving tips, ideas and resources that will result in families making minor, low cost improvements and more significant energy saving investments around their homes in order to reap long-term cost saving benefits."
The ad campaign simplistic format will draw in the consumer with a brief tagline and then provide them with an easy 'Waste Watcher' Tip that will help them watch their energy waste line and conserve energy. The ads urge customers to take action by visiting our Web sites for additional information and tips. In addition, some of the messages promote Energy Efficiency rebates as well as financial assistance for customers facing challenges with their energy needs.
"Customers have substantial control to conserve energy and help manage their energy costs," said Sierra. "By taking small energy conscious steps and reducing the amount of natural gasconsumed in the home, residents will be able to better manage their heating bills while also helping the overall environment."
Beginning on September 21, and continuing through the week of November 2, the radio spots can be heard on the following stations:
- WTMX-FM – 101.9 FM
- WLS-FM – 94.7 FM
