Sheboygan Gas Leak Repaired
Wisconsin Public Service employees are going door-to-door to relight furnaces and appliances
Sheboygan, WI – A natural gas leak caused last night in Sheboygan when a vehicle crashed through a fence and broke off a large gas meter has been repaired. Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) was notified of the leak at about 2:00 last night. Crews were on site by around 2:30 AM.
To repair the leak, WPS had to shut off natural gas service to approximately 300 customers near the site of the Sheboygan Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility, 3333 Lakeshore Drive.
A crew of 20 WPS employees was involved in the process of going door-to-door and relighting appliances and furnaces for those who had natural gas shut off. If no one was home, WPS left a door hanger with a number to call to arrange for relighting equipment.
About 75 percent of customers had equipment relit by about 1:00 this afternoon. Other customers will have their equipment relit when they call to request the service.
