Rosemount, MN - Starting this week, 50,000 Minnesota Energy Resources residential customers began receiving comparative Home Energy Reports as part of an innovative new energy efficiency program that helps residents better track and understand how they're using natural gas in their homes so they can lower monthly utility bills. The reports provide each customer with personalized natural gas usage information, combined with household specific saving tips, to help them reduce the amount of gas they use to lower overall energy costs.
"The Home Energy Reporting program has proven to help utility customers across the country save on their monthly energy bills. We're proud to offer this new service to our residential customers," said Ann Carlon, senior external relations manager for Minnesota Energy Resources. "The reports will give our customers the information they need to make smart energy choices, while showing them how they can make some simple adjustments that can result in significant savings. This is good news for our customers, especially given the current economic climate."
Developed by OPOWER, the Home Energy Reports will provide Minnesota Energy Resources customers with detailed information on their use of natural gas, including an anonymous comparison of how each customer's energy use relates to other customers in similar dwellings and locations. When combined with household specific energy saving tips, the information is a powerful resource that helps customers save on monthly energy bills.
Minnesota Energy Resources will deliver the information to its customers in easy-to-understand printed reports, as well as through a user-friendly web portal (http://www.minnesotaenergyresources.com/energyreport), both designed to help customers engage with their energy information on their own terms. The Home Energy Reporting program has been successfully deployed at multiple utilities across the country.
