Strong Winds Causing Power Outages to WPS Customers

Green Bay, WI High winds continue to cause power outages to Wisconsin Public Service electric customers, primarily from the Rhinelander and areas north. The outages are the result of strong winds causing branches to break or trees falling onto power lines. As of early Wednesday morning, the hardest hit areas were:

WPS has been assessing the damages and outages throughout the night. Additional crews have been called in to assist in the power restoration effort.

Residents are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and to treat them as if they are energized. Do not attempt to clear downed trees from areas near power lines!

If you have an electric emergency, contact WPS at 800-450-7240. If you have a natural gas emergency, contact WPS at 800-450-7280. All other emergencies please call 911.
